Initially we will be visiting Hitchin Lavender Farm at Ickleford. Lavender has been grown in the area since the 1500s for perfume and medication purposes. We start with a cream tea in the 17th century barn, and then split into 2 groups for an hour’s guided tour, which includes the museum and distilling area. Also included is lavender picking.
We then move onto Hitchin for lunch and its market by the River Hiz. The Friday market includes Antiques and Collectables alongside the usual stalls. The Hitchin Festival runs throughout July, so there should be plenty to see and do. More information will be available nearer the time, through the “Visit Hitchin” shop at 1A Churchyard, Hitchin. There are lots of eateries for lunch and places to visit include the North Herts Museum and St Mary’s church. Then it is back on the coach for a 4:00pm departure for Potters Bar.
OUTING COSTS : £35
COSTS INCLUDE :- Entry to Lavender Farm, including cream tea, tour and picking, coach fare and driver gratuity.
COACH DEPARTS promptly from the exit end of Furzefield Leisure Centre at 9:00am ESTIMATED RETURN 5:00pm
