What we offer Members

A Change of Life

Joining a new organisation can sometimes be a daunting prospect. Not all of us are comfortable with change while others happily embrace it. Whether you are taking your first tenatitive step to a new beginning or jumping in regardless, we are here to help you achieve.

We love to meet new people or reconnect with those who wish to return. Its all about building relationships and friendships with others. The variety of people we have is amazing and everyone has something to contribute.

We value being an inclusive organisation.

Sociability, Fun and Learning

If you are looking to make new friends or just to enjoy meeting others we can offer you opportunities.

We have monthly general meetings at the Wyllyotts Theatre (except in August) with guest or our own speakers. Our speakers cover a wide variety topics, so you are likely to find items that interest you. Afterwards, you can have a chat with a coffee (or any other drink) and a gossip with others.

Our interest groups meet often and there are many of them. Most are small groups that regulate themselves through a group coordinator. Providing they have spaces available, you can pick which groups you wish to join. We will also help you if you wish to start your own group.

Particularly popular is the Cultural Heritage Group, which runs outings to places of interest. The outings are available to all u3a members, but priority booking is available to those in the Cultural Heritage Group.

We offer trips, short-breaks and even holidays to members. So you can send yourself to Coventry one day and follow that up with a cruise down the Danube with like minded friends.

We hold other events such as coffee mornings and new member get togethers. Its a great way to find others like yourself or to say hello to committee members and to let them know what you think!

The UK u3a runs online groups, talks and courses for u3a members, all accessible from the comfort of your own home.

We publish a newsletter four times a year. It contains a wide variety of topics plus contact details for our committee and interest groups. The newsletter is available both online and as printed copy (for a small extra cost) depending on your preference.

We send regular emails to members on items of interest or importance to members.

Finally, we have our own website, but you already know this! Please feel to look around, but note our best content is available to members only.

I am a member of another u3a

No problem! We have an associate membership option that allows you to join us as well. Its also at a reduced rate. You do not need multiple copies of u3a matters (the Third Age Trust Magazine).

Joining

You can join online or you can send our Membership Secretary a postal application. Our membership year begins on the 1st August. The standard cost of membership for 2025/26 is  £16. There are reductions for members of other u3as, and for those on means tested benefits.
